Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has extended condolences following the martyrdom of Major General Majid Khademi, head of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).
In a message on Monday, Araghchi wrote that the US and Israeli regime assassinated the major general after years of his dedicated service in safeguarding Iran’s security and independence.
The Iranian foreign minister said the senior commander devoted his life to protecting national security and strengthening the country’s sovereignty.
Araghchi also said the assassination reflects the failure of Iran’s adversaries to achieve their objectives through other means.
He added that such actions will not weaken the resolve of the Iranian people but will further strengthen their determination to continue resistance.
The foreign minister expressed sympathy to Khademi’s family and colleagues, praying for divine mercy for the martyred commander and patience for his survivors.
The US and the Israeli regime launched their joint military aggression on Iran on February 28, following their previous war in June last year. Both conflicts were launched as Tehran was in the midst of diplomatic talks with Washington over its peaceful nuclear program.
